Value Poker

One of the most effective ways for players to be successful is that they get the proper value out of their hands. Whether it be making a value bet on the river, or slow playing your hand in hopes of trapping your opponent.

The Continuation Bet

The ‘continuation bet’ is one of the most important tools for a player to be a successful player in the long run. If you are unaware of what the continuation bet is it’s when you make a raise pre-flop, and proceed to make another bet on the flop. Hence the word ‘continuation’.

The Bluff

The term ‘bluff’ is one of the most popular poker terms that we have in our glossary. Though it is a word that when mentioned you immediately think poker; yet the bluff can be one of the toughest plays for players to pull off.

Playing in the ‘Blinds’

Right now I am enjoying the NFC Championship game (though I’m a BROWNS fan), and I am also playing in a poker tournament. Through playing this tournament I came up with the idea for this article, and I figured discussing the blinds could be helpful for the novice player.

Opponent’s Range

One of the most important factors to consider when playing a game of poker is sometimes over looked by novice players. Players that are new to the game typically strictly play their hole cards and the community cards on board.

Implied Odds

I recently wrote an article dealing with ‘Pot Odds’ and I believe that a new player to the game could really benefit from reading it. In today’s article I want to branch off the pot odds article and take a look into a different type of poker odds; Implied Odds.

Satellite Tournaments

Satellites can be used for a couple reasons, but one reason that comes to mind is the chance for low limit players to enter a bigger buy-in tournament. Every player wants to play in a tournament that gives them an opportunity to win some big money.

The River: Check or Bet?

When most people think of the ‘river’ they may think the Mississippi or the Nile. For us poker players the ‘river’ brings new meaning to the word ‘river’. The river can bring tremendous joy or it can bring a gut wrenching feeling when a bad beat occurs.

Pot Odds

When playing poker there are multiple factors that can come into play when making a decision within a poker hand. One of those factors is known as ‘pot odds’. Pot odds definition can be defined as: The ratio of the present size of the pot to the cost of a potential call.

The Bubble

When it comes to sit ‘n’ go tournaments and multi-table tournaments the ‘bubble’ may be the most popular term in the poker dictionary. The bubble separates the players who finish outside the money from those who finish in the money
