House Warned Against “Rash Decisions” in Banning Online Gambling in the States

"Don't Bet On The House" letter points to the positive in LA Times editorial

Rep. Jon C Porter, Nevada, who has proposed Bill HR 5474 "The Internet Gaming Study Commission Act" distributed a letter this week to members of the U.S. House of Representatives urging them not to make any "rash decisions" on Internet gambling policy until a complete study has been undertaken as to the full implications of banning vs. regulating online gaming in the USA.

Political support is reported to be growing for Porter's proposal that a bipartisan Congressional committee be appointed to conduct an in depth study of the online gambling phenomenon before any moves are made to ban it. Major elements in the American land gambling industry have already expressed support for the "look before you leap" concept of a full and unbiased investigation of the industry and its impact on American players.

Porter reinforced the message in his letter by attaching to it the powerful and largely positive Los Angeles Times editorial titled "Don't Bet the House," which ran the same day.
