Weekend In Review – PokerStars, Party Poker and Bodog

November 12, 2009 |

The FTOPS over at Full Tilt was attracting some big numbers but it had little effect on the rest of the big tournaments on Sunday. Most of the sites saw a huge influx of new players that managed to reach the final tables.

The PokerStars Sunday Million as always had no problem attracting huge numbers even with the added competition from the FTOPS. 6,637 players joined the tournament creating a $1,327,400 prize pool. The usual 900 places were paid and first place was set to receive $190,880.12.

A few of the big names participating in this event were Chris “Money800” Moneymaker, Ray Rahme and Isabelle “NoMercy” Mercier but they all finished out of the money.

Heads-up lasted less than 20 minutes and saw Balla-B13 take on head2842. In the last hand head2842 raised with a Queen, Nine and Balla-B13 put him all in with an Ace, Three. The board showed Two, Eight, Ace, Six, Six giving Balla-B13 first place and $190,880.12 with head2842 taking $99,422.26 for his efforts.

Making it three weeks in a row the Party Poker $300,000 Guaranteed Tournament avoided an overlay. The 1,643 players that showed up created a prize pool of $328,600 with 200 places getting paid.

The final table saw some heated action early on but the final three players came to an agreement based on their chip count with dparaskakis taking home first place and $47,261.04. KolliMong and JADER_15 took second and third place respectively with earnings standing at $41,878.02 and $35,400.36 for the tournament.

Finally the Bodog $100,000 Guaranteed Sunday Tournament failed to avoid an overlay which meant the people at Bodog had to provide the additional $23,600 to reach the $100,000 guarantee. A total of 764 played with first place set to receive $25,000.

The last hand during heads-up would see cambiasso take on GibinMauler with the latter being up 4 to 1. Both players called and the flop showed Nine, Eight, Five. cambiasso bet 70k and GibinMauler went all in, forcing cambiasso to call with an Eight and Three second pair to GibinMauler Seven, Six for the made straight.

The turn and the river showed a Jack and a Two giving $25,000 to GibinMauler and $14,300 to cambiasso for second place.
