Weekend in Review – Internet Connection Issues cause havoc
Internet connection problems caused all sorts of problems over the weekend as many players got hampered while playing the big guaranteed tournaments on Sunday.
The monthly Full Tilt $1 Million Guaranteed event avoided an overlay as a big crowd of 2,152 players showed up. With the buy-in for his monthly event set at $500 + $35 the prize pool was $1,076,000 with 306 places paying.
Players started complaining in chat about disconnection issues well before the final table as Soren “Kongsgaard” Kongsgaard known for coming in third in last year’s EPT Grand Final went heads up with Chris “BluffMagCV” Vaughn who works for Bluff Magazine.
Unfortunately the action would only last a couple of hands as Kongsgaard got disconnected yet again and this time for good. His chips were blinded off and Vaughn was the winner taking home $197,984 to Kongsgaard’s $121,588.
As always over at Poker Stars the Sunday Million event attracted the biggest crowd with 6,524 players up from 6,336 the previous week creating a prize pool of $1,304,800 with 900 places getting paid.
Disconnection problems kicked in around seven minutes into the final table with kev_unlimit, Dabe8Gavis and weeminer all facing some serious connection problems.
Heads-up saw Macknot take on weeminer but play was very brief. Weeminer went all in but his Queen, Six run into Macknot’s pocket Aces. The board showed Ace, Five, Two, Two and Seven giving Macknot $187,630.24 for first place and runner up weeminer $97,729.42 for his efforts.
The Party Poker $300,000 Guaranteed event managed to avoid both disconnection problems and an overlay. Since the event starts a lot earlier to accommodate its European based players it finished earlier in the day thus avoiding disconnection issues.
There was a small increase week to week in player count as 1,549 players showed up compared to 1,529 from the previous week creating a $306,800 prize pool.
As play moved into the final table, most of the players started talking about reaching an agreement, but it would come down to the last 6 players before a deal was struck. The players agreed on a chop by chip count giving lenok07 first place and $40,301.44 and runner up position went to LooseHope who took home $30,565.31 for his efforts.
